Get ready with the hankies...Dan Skinner's "Memorizing you"

Who among you knew that Dan Skinner, a great photographer like Howard Roffman and Dylan Rosser, was also a writer? "Memorizing you", his second novel, it's all about the bliss and panic and tenderness of first love among teenagers, when the bloom of youth and the innocence of soul are overwhelmed by that cruelest and sweetest of all sentiments, love! But the time was 1967,and love between boys still did not dare admit its own existence, let alone speak its name. The tears, the confusion, the utter panic of David realizing his attraction and love for Greg are beautifully and poignantly described. All this is narrated by an older, sadder David who learned to love and to live. and, alas, learned also that loss is a sad price for living and getting older. Yet the blissful menory of loves past, having felt that bountiful of sweetness cannot be denied by time. And, who knows? Maybe the future has a surprise for us. A poignant, beautifully written novel about the ups and downs, bliss and despair, sorrows and joys of love and life. Loved it!
